Quotation Full Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Aberdare

Your flight will land at Kigali Airport. Welcome to Africa!  After disembarking from the aircraft you will be met by Maono Tours Customer Service Manager who will lead you to clear customs and immigration formalities and proceed to the arrivals lounge. You will be assisted to your transfer vehicle. Transfer by road to your hotel. Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Half Day Kigali city tour

After the breakfast the guide will take you for the Kigali city tour. The tour will include the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, the trading center, the ministry area, the UN memorial (where the ten blue helmets were killed at the onset of the genocide), the post-genocide development and expansion of Kigali, the new and modern residential quarter and other sites. You will have lunch at Hotel des Mille Collines.

Day 3: Drive to Akagera National Park (Duration 3 hours)

After a leisure morning breakfast at around 08:00 am, your driver/Guide will meet you at the hotel and ready to transfer to the Akagera National Park.

Akagera National Park covers 2500 km² of savannah west of the Kagera River, in the north-east of Rwanda. The park has a variety of wildlife and is a habitat for over 500 different species of birds. Herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while you might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena or even a lion. Giraffe and zebra haunt the savannah, and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park.

Lunch at the camp followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Magashi Camp.

Day 4: Full day in Akagera National Park

This morning you go for a boat safari on the Ihema River to spot the many waterbirds like Cormorans, Fish eagles and kingfishers.

The lakes and savannah of Akagera National Park has a rapidly increasing wildlife population. Reduced somewhat from its former size, the park still boasts 900 square kilometers of scenic savannah and lakes, and visitors can enjoy the plains game on game drives or by boat. The park takes its name from the Kagera river that runs along its eastern boundary into a series of lakes, the largest of which is Lake Ihema. Over 30% of the park is made up of lakes and papyrus swamps that together form one of the largest protected wetlands in Africa. All meals and overnight at  the Camp.

Day 5: Drive to Kigali Serena Hotel

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali city and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 6: Drive to Lake Kivu Serena Hotel

You will drive along the shore of Lake Kivu to Gisenyi – you`ll start off inland then head west passing some beautiful views of the lake and mountain scenery on your way, and can stop in the town of Kibuye if you want to stretch your legs. You will then head on to Gisenyi, the town at the north of Lake Kivu. Your driver will take you straight to the Lake Kivu Serena, where you will relax. 

Day 7: Lake Kivu Serena

Today you will set off for a boat ride and a cultural village visit.

Day 8: Drive to Volcanoes National Park

Drive north through some beautiful, terraced hills which are characterized with huge landscape and sometimes as five peaks (Volcanoes) visible. Arriving in Musanze you will be transferred to your hotel which is on the foot of Mountain Sabyinyo at 2000 meters high above the sea level. Upon arrival, your day is at leisure. Overnight at Virunga Inn Resort & Spa on full board basis.

Day 9: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla trek

Today you will set off for the Volcanoes to the park headquarters where you will register for the gorilla trekking. Once you`ve been assigned a group and have had a briefing from your guide you will be driven to the trailhead where you will start the walk. Your trek will take anywhere from an hour to five hours to reach the gorillas – depending on which group you`ve been assigned. The terrain changes from farmland to bamboo forests, into stinging nettles and rainforest before you will find the gorillas.

Day 10: Volcanoes National Park – Golden Monkey trek

After a morning breakfast, report to the park headquarter for your golden monkey experience with

You will again assemble at the park headquarters for the golden monkey trek, briefing from the park rangers about this golden monkey group you are going to visit. Proceed for the memorable adventure in the forest, an activity that may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of these apes. Meet and stay with the animals for a maximum of one hour, then descend to the park headquarters and then to your Lodge. After the trekking, you will drive back to your hotel where you will be spending the afternoon at leisure.

Day 11: Drive back to Kigali / Depart

Breakfast at your lodge. Transfer back to Kigali with some stop over to admire the views and scenery which will give you a clear image of why it is nicknamed “Country of thousand Hills”, visit the local market and curio shops for souvenirs.

Drop off at Kigali Airport for your onward flight.
